One-Minute Writer: Decoration

Write about a holiday decoration that holds particular meaning for you.

Just a few days after learning our dear friend Marva had been murdered, we visited her home, the crime-scene where her life was taken. It was right at Christmas time. The tree was up and decorated cheerfully, such a stark contrast to the darkness that seemed to envelop us during that season in life. There, hanging from the tree, were these delicate little snowmen bulbs. Kimberly took one, and we've put it on our tree every year since (excluding this year, as its still in IN). There is something special about knowing it was Marva's, that she picked those ornaments out because she loved them, and that her hand had once held it and carefully placed in the boughs of her own Christmas tree.
